get your guitar wings
Hey...Do you feel stuck and like you’re hitting a wall with your guitar playing? Are you not playing as much as you intended to when you first got your awesome new guitar and it’s starting to gather dust in the corner of one of the rooms of your home?
I’ve been there too. It sucks. I’ve been at points in my guitar playing journey over the past 25 years where I’ve felt so frustrated and pissed off with my playing that I’ve wanted to give up and quit or even worse, I’ve just tried to ignore my passion and desire to play guitar and music and buried it under excuses; work, family, bills, the lot. I put everything else first and the guitar turned into a chore, or something that I felt guilty about which wasn’t the intention of it at all. This is something I LOVE!
I tried all those YouTube videos, online Guitar Tabs, I’d even had teachers in the past who would sit me down and teach me scales and songs out of guitar books in group lessons at school but the guitar never clicked for me and I kept feeling like I was hitting walls and never truly breaking through. Inside I was desperate, I loved music so much but I felt like I was going to have to quit unless things changed FAST.

Then everything turned around on this one cold winters day. I rocked up to a group guitar class at school, feeling my usual frustration and anxiety at what was to come but little did I know how much things were about to change for me.
A cold had swept through the school and everyone was sick that day in my music class, even the teacher.
A substitute teacher had to fill the spot of my usual teacher that day and for once it was just me and the teacher, 1-on-1 together, I had nowhere to hide! Oh no!!!
A little intimidated, I said “I’m usually the worst one in the group”. I think he knew what was going on and could sense my nervousness and what I was going through with the guitar. He smiled at me and said “well, lets change that then!”
I instantly relaxed and felt better. What a relief! “Ok! I’d love that” I said to him.
He picked up the teacher’s book, looked at the last couple of lessons that the teacher had been teaching us, took a deep breathe and to my shock, threw my usual teachers notes over his shoulder onto the floor and turned to me and asked me the most powerful question of my whole guitar playing journey to this day….
“What music do you actually love to listen to Cam?”
And that was the moment where everything turned around for me. He taught me my favourite song, Master of Puppets by Metallica. WOAH! This was awesome. Then he taught me my first scale and we actually jammed together. He opened up the guitar to me and it suddenly became this vast amazing and beautiful hidden land to explore, where anything was possible!
We lost track of time and we didn’t even hear the lunch time bell go as he was showing me how to improvise, create and play what I wanted to play on the guitar. This was awesome!!!
What the hell was this?! Guitar was something that had become a chore, a pain, a frustration for me, now I had this incredible feeling like I was literally Superman and had just learned to fly!!!
As soon as school finished I literally ran home, a good 2 or 3 kms with my guitar on my back. I rushed in the door of my home, went straight to my room, plugged in the guitar and played for hours!!!! I was in love with it again! I felt the same excitement, passion, and energy I felt when I first got my guitar from the store. YES! Heaven!
And it kept getting better from that point. That moment for me was the most powerful moment of my journey learning the guitar. Now with over 22 years of playing under my belt, being lucky enough to release multiple records and tour Australia and Japan and have fans all over the world, I have developed a method that helps you get to where you want to get to on the guitar and have the same “OMG I’m flying” experience I had on that fateful day.
Imagine what it would feel like to have that turnaround with your guitar playing? Imagine if you could experience such a strong breakthrough that you continue to play for the rest of your life just like me.
Thats the gift I was given, and thats what I want to pass on to all of my students and as many people as possible because we all know how awesome and important music is. Its just being able to navigate the challenges of it and the best way to do that is with someone who has been there, someone you can trust and count on to show you the way and help make it happen.
If this sounds like something you want to create for yourself, check out the options for how we can work together below.
Remember, your guitar turnaround is only a moment away…

guitar lesson services:
the truth
Let's get one thing straight....Guitar is hard! And if you're like most of my students, you have a deep seeded love and passion for music that no matter what you do, wont go away and you're willing to put in the work, listen to advice, stay accountable and be coachable.
As Guitarists, everything stems from this but most people's experience of the Guitar is one of feeling stuck, frustrated and lacking direction and having something you love turn into a source of frustration.
After fumbling around on YouTube, people tend to realise they need a couple of things to go the next level with the Guitar:
-
Structure
-
Accountability
-
Support
There also has to be a balance of Challenge Vs Fun. We need Challenge so we grow, but we have to be having fun and studying music and things that we actually want to be studying that light us up and inspire us. If we get the correct balance of Challenge vs fun, you'll feel absoltutely electric and pumped about your guitar playing journey!
FAQs
What is the Hybrid Lesson Program?
The Hybrid Lesson Program is a premium subscription model of Guitar Lessons designed for maximum progress. It combines the structure of a regular curriculum with a video-based feedback loop. You submit videos of your playing, and I provide detailed, personalized video critiques and assignments to keep you moving forward between sessions.
-
Rate: $220 AUD billed in blocks of 4 lessons at a time.
Do you offer 1-on-1 lessons?
Yes but places are extremely limited. These can be undertaken Online via Discord or at our Studio location in South Morang, Melbourne Victoria.
I have been booked out consistently 6 days a week for 5 years so when a spot in my schedule becomes available it can be offered but will depend on availability of both teacher and student. I am only interested in offering these valuable slots to excellent students who reflect our values, are courteous, respectful, humble people who value the Guitar and their lessons. Any disrespect towards the Guitar, teacher or schedule can result in a student losing their place so it is strongly advised that you are 100% committed before seeking out 1-on-1. These sessions focus on technical proficiency, theory, repertoire and more to help you become a better Guitarist.
-
Rate: $90AUD per 50-minute session.
-
Billing: Lessons are billed in blocks of four ($360AUD) to secure your recurring time slot in the schedule.
Can I book a single session without enrolling?
Casual, one-off sessions are available for students who need a "deep dive" into a specific technique or concept without a long-term commitment but are subject to availability.
-
Rate: $120 per 50-minute session.
-
Note: These sessions are strictly subject to current calendar availability.
-----------------------
Logistics & Policies:
How long are the sessions?
All individual sessions (Ongoing and Casual) are 50 minutes. This timeframe is optimized to review progress, introduce new technical concepts, and provide a clear roadmap for your practice week.
What is your cancellation policy?
Because the studio operates on a rigid schedule to ensure all students receive consistent support and the schedule is already fully booked, we do not provide make-up classes or reschedules. Instead, bonus Hybrid Lessons are offered to students when they cannot attend their usual class time. This includes if a student is away for work, sick etc etc. This ensures the schedule remains fair and manageable for everyone.
You are purchasing an allocated weekly time in my schedule to which we BOTH commit to, to ensure a students results and that commitment is taken seriously. The right people will love this and get it!
In the event of emergencies or sickness where you are unable to attend your agreed time either in-person or remotely, we default to a “hybrid” class for that week where I will send you a class via a recorded video with instructions and exercises to work on for that given week. For maximum effectiveness please submit a video or your progress for the week before your weekly lesson slot time
In the rare occurrence that one of our Instructors is required to cancel a lesson for sickness, emergencies, industry commitments or holidays, a make up lesson will be provided to you.
What genres do you specialize in?
While the fundamentals apply to all music, the instruction here is specialized for Metal and Rock as that is the music that we love! We focus heavily on technical precision, rhythmic complexity, and modern theory.
------------------------------
Student Expectations:
How much do I need to practice?
Success in technical genres requires discipline. To see significant results, I recommend a minimum of 30–60 minutes of focused practice daily. The program is built for students who value accountability and are serious about mastering the instrument. If you can't commit to this, there's a strong chance it wont be attractive for me to teach you!
What do I need for my first lesson?
You will need your guitar, a stable internet connection (for remote lessons), and a way to take notes. For the Hybrid Program, you will also need a basic way to record video (a smartphone is usually sufficient) for your feedback submissions and a basic YouTube account to upload videos to.
How do I get started?
New students typically begin by filling out a qualification form. This ensures that your goals align with the curriculum and that we are a good fit for a professional teaching relationship.
From there we will discuss suitability for Hybrid or 1-on-1 we complete set up and get started. If 1-on-1 a Paid Trial Class is usually offered first to ensure an appropriate fit.
